Fire Advisory - August 11, 2025

Saddle Hills County has downgraded the Fire Restriction to a FIRE ADVISORY. A Fire Advisory is also in effect for the Grande Prairie Forest Area. 

Controlled burning in the Non-Forest Protection Area, including on privately-owned land, is limited to campfires, burning barrels, and hand-piled wood, two cubic metres or smaller.

Burn permits are still required and will be issued on a case-by-case basis. Large fuel burns will not be permitted at this time.

Farm the Ground Up: Soil Health Workshop

Join us for a Soil Health Workshop, 'Farm the Ground Up', at the Savanna Rec. Plex, on October 22, 2025, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Presenter Kris Nichols, Ph.D. from the Food Water Wellness Foundation will help participants to learn about soil biology and microbial activity, create a farm plan to regenerate soil, and examine a soil pit.

The workshop is free and lunch will be provided!
